LAPD gave me a ticket for texting “in traffic”, which was me stopped at a red light! I didn’t have an up to date insurance card, though I did have up to date insurance at the time. The fees and fines are over 00 but I can’t find a line item description of what costs what on their website or phone lines. The violations are 16028a, which should be reduced to or so and 231235a which I am hoping to have removed or knocked down to the minimum fine since I was obeying, in good faith, the spirit of the law (not texting while actually driving). thanks
Interesting judgmentalists abound. Save your platitudes for someone who actually violates public safety by texting while driving. The officer wrote texting “in traffic” to denote that I was not actually driving (as in, in motion). Thanks for the answer (not you #1 since there was no answer from you about my question), but put the ego and patronization in your own trunk. I don’t endanger the public by texting while driving. If it’s technically illegal to do it while at a full stop, then so be it, but don’t come off like I’m some teen with no responsibility and a phone glued to my ear. I’m an especially safe driver and was following what I thought was the law.

You were in the driver’s seat of a car, the car was in a lane designated for driving on a public road, and you were texting!
You were texting while driving, and the judge will probably find you guilty of the offense.
