Question by ♥Willow♥ ♪♫My♪♫ ♥Doxie♥: Why do you want traffic on your website and how do you make money from it?
I always hear people say they need traffic on their site. And that they get paid. How do you get paid for having people look and click your website? I would really like to know. I’ve had over 400 visitors on mine, and I would really like to get paid when people view it seeing as I made the site as a way to raise money for my dachshunds eye surgery. Please explain how I can make money just for having people view my site and why it is so important to get “hits” and “traffic.”
Thanks!
Well every little bit helps. How do I go about getting banners or advertisements on my site. Also I found a site that said you would get paid just for people going on your site. But I was afraid it was probably a scam. Idk. ANy suggestions? thanks. (and yes my avatar is my doxie)

The more people that visit your site the higher the odds someone will click on an advertisement (called a click-thru). So say for example you have 400 visitors. Now 4 of them may click on the advertisement on your page and perhaps 1 of those 4 will actually buy the advertised product. The company that deals with the advertisements will then pay you a small amount…very small amount. Expect less than .

Banner type advertisements have significantly dropped in usefulness in recent years. Especially with browser plugins that will block certain ad-networks from loading and displaying ad banners on a page.

In order to make any decent amount of money (we’re simply talking like more than ) you would literally need thousands of hits – daily! Just think about it, how often do you click on banners…and then buy the advertised product?

A site like Yahoo! can stick ads on the pages because they have more visitors than most sites on the internet and even use contextual marketing which loads an ad related to what is displayed on the page. Like on the side of my page it is advertising eye stuff since you mentioned eyes in your post.

Sorry if I brought you down but that’s the truth about sticking banners on sites. It’s very difficult to make money that way unless you have a very popular website. I hope you can get the money for you dachshund’s surgery though. :(

Owning a website is like being a commission sales person. You place ads on your site; people click on the ads and buy products from their sites. You earn a commission on everything the buy plus a 30, 60 or 90 day cookies are attached to the buyers IP address and you collect commission on return visits. I found a good site on how to set everything up: http://www.AffiliatesPartner.com
